Loisa is bringing puro sabor to the Latin kitchen with upgraded seasoning blends, spices, and cooking sauces - and we're just getting started. Driven by love and support for la comunidad, we do good outside of the kitchen, too. Each month, 2% of sales are donated to an organization fighting for food justice.
Loisa is a Latin-owned business born out of the homes of our co-founders Kenny Luna and Scott Hattis. As they both prepared to start families, they embarked on a mission to make Sazón and Adobo without artificial ingredients so that they could proudly pass on their families' Dominican heritage foods onto their children. In 2021, Dominican community chef, food activist, and educator Yadira Garcia of Happy Healthy Latina joined Loisa as an owner with the launch of our Sofrito, which she co-created with the company based on her family's heritage recipe. Under her platform, Chef Yadi leads educational efforts to address food justice, nutrition & health inequities in NYC and beyond.
Loisa is an homage to “Loisaida” - the Spanglish name for the Lower East Side barrio of downtown New York City (our home city) and one of the hearts of local Latin culture & cuisine.
From the pantry, start with the Flavor Trio, El Gran Combo, and you’ll be on your way to some pure & classic Latin flavor - includes 1 Organic Sazón, 1 Organic Adobo, and Sofrito! From the kitchenwares, mix-and-match colors to build your Plantain Set, including our Tostonera, Masher, and Skimmer!

Pantry
When the flavor is pure, the possibilities are endless! Try our seasonings in classic Latin dishes like Arroz con Gandules or get creative and up your breakfast game with some sazon eggs or tofu. Once you have them in your pantry, you’ll see! Plus, you can always find new recipes and inspiration on our blog.
Our sofrito sauces are incredibly versatile, especially compared to your typical store bought versions! In general, you can use 2-3 tbsp for every cup of rice or beans or pound of protein to add bright flavor to any dish, classic or new. You can also get creative and thin with olive oil for an herby dressing, or simply dip or drizzle out of the jar with tostones or your favorite veggies!
The reasons are many! Our sazon and adobo seasonings are USDA Certified Organic, Non-GMO, Vegan, Plant-based, Gluten Free, Certified Kosher, and MSG Free - and always will be. Plus, we never use artificial colors or flavors, unnecessary fillers, or any other questionable ingredients.
No, and there never will be! It’s unfortunate, but many “big food” companies still include anti-caking agents or other artificial ingredients like MSG in their seasonings. Doing this makes each bottle cheaper to produce, but at the expense of your health. Often these ingredients aren’t vegan either, even though labels don’t have to say it.
All of our sauces and seasonings are manufactured here in the U.S.A.
We recommend enjoying any spice or seasoning within 8-12 months of opening the bottle. That's how you'll get the freshest & most vibrant flavor in anything you cook. Unopened, you can refer to the "best by" date on the bottom of your bottle, which is usually 2-3 years from purchase.
Our sofrito sauces are shelf-stable for easy storage, meaning there is no need to refrigerate unopened jars. Once the top is popped and you're enjoying pure flavor, though, it needs to refrigerated. We usually suggest using the rest within 8-10 days, or alternatively, freezing in an ice cube tray to portion it out and save it longer.
Our seasonings and spices are made in a facility that is Top 8 allergen-free! Our sofrito is made in a facility that processes wheat, soy, nuts and dairy.
Kitchenware
Our Tostonera, Mortar y Pestle, and Skimmer should always be washed by hand and dried shortly thereafter. This will help maintain the health of the bamboo and natural oil finish. Our Masher, however, is dishwasher safe.
The bamboo surfaces of our Tostonera, Mortar y Pestle, and Skimmer are all finished with non-toxic, plant-based, food-safe oil. It’s possible over time that you notice some wear in frequently used places. If so, you can season with mineral oil or other similar oils to refinish the bamboo. Whatever oil you use for your cutting board should do just fine!
All our kitchenware products are proudly designed in Nueva York. When ready, we vet vendors worldwide to decide on manufacturing partners. For our current lineup, we found our match in China, partnering with multiple factories who adhere to the highest-level of manufacturing and workplace standards, including ISO certifications. Intentionality and care are core values here at Loisa, and we bring that mindset to all sides of our business, including our choice in suppliers.
Our kitchenware products come with a limited one-year warranty covering any major damage other than discoloration or damage through wear and tear. Read more about our policy here.
